The collection of financial compensation held in May by the use of water resources for electricity generation to cities, states and the Union, including royalties (compensation payable by the Itaipu Dam), was BRL 210.8 million. In the year (January-May), the figure rose to BRL 939.6 million. Of this total, BRL 761.1 million as CFURH and BRL 178.5 million in royalties were distributed.
The features may have been distributed to 693 municipalities in 21 states, the Federal District and the Union, of which BRL 170.3 million by means of Compensation for Use of Water Resources (CFURH). The transfer of royalties was BRL 40.4 million to 342 municipalities in five states, the Federal District and the Union
The values were collected from 95 paying companies, responsible for 177 and 187 hydroelectric reservoirs. The data refer to consulting the report collection held this Monday (06/11).
Municipalities are left with 45% of the collection, while another 45% goes to the states. The money can be invested in health programs, education and security, but cannot be used to shoot down debt, unless the creditor is the Union, or for the payment of staff.
The Union receives the remaining 10%, which are distributed to the National Water Agency (ANA), the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and ministries of Environment, Water Resources and Legal Amazon (MMA) and Mines and Energy (MME).
The collection and distribution of compensation and royalties are the responsibility of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL). The result may be accompanied by the publication of reports on the Agency web page, at www.aneel.gov.br, under Technical Information, Financial Clearing, Reports. In this website you can also understand more about the subject. (DB / PG)
