The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) approved the Hydroelectric Inventory Stories of the Hydrographic Basin of the Aripuanã River, which covers the areas of the states of Mato Grosso (99,357 sq. km), Rondônia (14,026 sq. km) and Amazonas (32,874 sq. km). Elaborated by the Energetic Research Company (Empresa de Pesquisa Energética) – EPE, these studies total an inventoried power of approximately 2,530 MW, distributed in 7 outputs, with 4 on the Aripuanã River and 3 on the Roosvelt River. Besides these 7 outputs, already in operation on the main river is the UHE Dardanelos, with installed power of 261 MW.
The Aripuanã River is an important right margin contributor to the Madeira River. Its basin has a drainage area of approximately 146 thousand sq. km. With the approval of these studies, the hydroelectric outputs identified in them begin to integrate the portfolio of power plants available for the elaboration of the viability studies and basic project. The inventory studies already approved by ANEEL and the list of studies that are in the phase of analysis can be consulted on the Agency’s electronic site at the addresses below. (HP/PG)
