This Thursday (6/28), the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) will hold a public hearing in Rio Claro (SP) to present the proposal with the preliminary index for the third periodic tariff review for Elektro Eletricidade e Serviços S/A.
The session will be held at 2:00 pm in the Auditorium of the Rio Claro Commerce and Industry Association located at Rua Três, number 1431. The hearing aims to gather contributions from consumers and public and private institution representatives, consumer defense entities, neighborhood associations and other segments of civil society for the utility’s review process.
ANEEL’s proposal for Elektro’s review projects an average reduction of -6.2% (negative) for the tariffs of consumers served by the utility. The distributor provides electricity to 2.2 million consumer units distributed in the 223 cities in the state of São Paulo and five in Mato Grosso do Sul.
The tariff review is projected in concession contracts with the objective of obtaining equilibrium in the tariffs based on the remuneration of company investments geared towards providing distribution services and covering expenses effectively recognized by ANEEL.It is applied to distribution utilities every four years, on average.
Due to the discussions related to the methodology for the 3rd Cycle of Periodic Tariff Reviews, there has not been sufficient time to conduct Elektro’s PTR on the date stipulated in the concession contract (8/27/2011). For that reason, the tariffs were extended, as determined by Resolution no. 471/2011. Read more about the tariff extension.(DB/PG)
