The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) ended today (03\/05), in Belo Horizonte (MG), the contribution phase for the public hearing for the second periodic tariff review of Cemig Distribui\u00e7\u00e3o S\/S (Cemig), started this past January 31st<\/sup>. The meeting, lead by Aneel director Aneel Jo\u00edsa Campanher Dutra Saraiva, had the participation of approximately 600 representatives of consumers, consumer defense institutions, social, movements, politicians and all other civil society organizations. Of the total of those present, approximately 100 presented suggestions to perfect the process.<\/p>\n

The average preliminary review index was -9.72%<\/b>. After the analysis of the contributions sent in writing and collected during the hearing, Aneel will define Cemig’s final index, which will go in effect this coming April 8th<\/sup>. The distribution company serves 6.373 million consumer units in 774 municipal districts in Minas Gerais.<\/p>\n

The tariff reduction proposed is resulting of the company’s greater productivity and of the lower average capital cost (which defines the distribution leasers’ remuneration). The tariff review is foreseen in the concession contracts to obtain the balance of tariffs based on the remuneration of the companies’ investments aimed towards distribution service rendering and expense coverage effectively recognized by Aneel. It is applied to the distribution leasers every four years, on average. The Goi\u00e1s Agency of Regulation, Control and Inspection of Public Services (Ag\u00eancia Goiana de Regula\u00e7\u00e3o, Controle e Fiscaliza\u00e7\u00e3o de Servi\u00e7os P\u00fablicos – AGR), by delegation of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel), carried out this Wednesday (03\/05), in Itumbiara (GO), a public consult to hear the consumers about the quality of the services rendered by Celg Distribui\u00e7\u00e3o S\/A. Approximately 50 representatives of resident associations, public ministry, rural union, consumer defense organ, industries and Municipal Chamber participated in the consult.<\/p>\n

The meeting was presided by AGR’s energy director Osmar Ant\u00f4nio de Moura and counted on the participation of Aneel’s Electricity Services Inspection, Paulo Henrique Lopes.<\/p>\n

The contributions collected during the meeting will serve as a subside to the periodic inspection of the services rendered by the company in the distributor’s concession area, to be carried out in 2008 by AGR. Besides encouraging the improvement of power service rendering, the purpose of the public consult is to provide consumers direct access to Aneel and AGR to contribute to the inspection processes. The quality in the supply and customer service are some of the aspects of the services rendered by the distribution leasers observed by the inspection.<\/p>\n

Celg, the first distributor to go through the public consult about service inspection this year, serves approximately 2 million consumers in 237 municipal districts in Goi\u00e1s. Predicted also are another 28 consults in 2008. In<\/st1:metricconverter> the month of March, the Agency will carry out another two consults in Amap\u00e1 and Alagoas, concession areas of the Companhia Energ\u00e9tica do Amap\u00e1 (CEA) and Companhia Energ\u00e9tica de Alagoas (CEAL) respectively. The public consults about inspection of the services rendered by the distributors started in 2004.<\/p>\n
