The concessions of new enterprises, grouped in seven lots, were bought in auction by six Brazilian companies and one Spanish company. The lines add up to approximately <st1:metricconverter w:st='on' ProductID='1,941 kilometers'>1,941 kilometers<\/st1:metricconverter> of extension and are designated to reinforce the National Interconnected System. The investments are predicted at R$ 1.15 billion. <\/p>\n<p>The contracts were signed by Aneel&#8217;s general director, Jerson Kelman, and by representatives of the private and state companies that, individually, bought the concession in the auction held by the Agency on November 7 of last year, in partnership with the S\u00e3o Paulo Stock Market, in the city of <st1:City w:st='on'><st1:place w:st='on'>Rio de Janeiro<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. In all, seven lots with nine lines and four substations were auctions, with an average accrued liability of 54.84%. See <a href='http:\/\/www.aneel.gov.br\/arquivos\/PDF\/Rela\u00e7\u00e3o%20de%20lotes%20leiloados%20e%20respectivos%20vencedores.pdf'><b >here<\/b><\/a> the relation of lots and respective lines.<\/p>\n<p>The building of new enterprises will benefit the states of Alagoas, Cear\u00e1, Maranh\u00e3o, Mato Grosso, Paran\u00e1, Pernambuco, Piau\u00ed, <st1:City w:st='on'>Rio Grande<\/st1:City> do Sul, Sergipe and <st1:place w:st='on'>Tocantins<\/st1:place>. The lines should start operation in between 15 and 21 months.<\/p>\n<p>In ten years of functioning, the Agency tendered and authorized <st1:metricconverter w:st='on' ProductID='32,199.32 kilometers'>32,199.32 kilometers<\/st1:metricconverter> (km) of transmission lines, of which <st1:metricconverter w:st='on' ProductID='24,492.5 km'>24,492.5 km<\/st1:metricconverter> are in operation. In 2007, <st1:metricconverter w:st='on' ProductID='995.4 km'>995.4 km<\/st1:metricconverter> of lines were energized.
