The board of directors of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL – Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) approved, during the public meeting on this Tuesday (16), the opening of the R&D Strategic Project Call No. 17/2013 – “Development of National Wind Generation Technology”. The theme was pointed out as strategic during the projects of the technical commission composed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI – Ministério de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação), ANEEL and the National Board of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq – Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico).

The call is intended to serve as incentive for national technology development of the productive chain of the wind energy industry, focusing on incentives to reduce the costs of equipment and components in the professional and technological qualification of the production chain of wind energy, in the regulatory improvement and optimization of energy resources, considering the integrated resource planning, the energy complementarity and integration between wind power and other available sources. In his opinion, the principal draftsman of the process, André Pepitone da Nóbrega, said the initiative serves as a stimulus for technological development and the improvement of the regulatory wind power generation in the country “The success of this initiative will provide the technical and economic feasibility for wind generation with national technology, increasing the security of supply and diversification of the Brazilian energy matrix,” he concluded.

The proposals for strategic projects will have live, mandatory initial assessment, and monitoring of the implementation of the project through periodic meetings. The project approval occurs only after evaluation of the results achieved, resources employed and investments made. In choosing the projects, preference will be given to cooperative studies, seeking uniformity of criteria.
