The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL – Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) altered the location of the hearing about the 3rd Tariff Review for Centrais Elétricas de Carazinho S/A (Eletrocar). The session will be at the Câmara de Vereadores de Carazinho (RS), which is at Av. Flores da Cunha, 799, Centro. The meeting, which will take place on Thursday, April 25, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., is open to participation of the entire population and will be presided by the Agency’s director André Pepitone da Nóbrega.
The session has the objective of debating the preliminary proposal increase of 8.46% for the residential consumers served by Eletrocar. For the industries, the proposal is of an average increase of 10.56%. The hearing will also discuss the quality of the service and the limits of the continuity indicators *DEC and **FEC of the concessionaire stipulated for the period of 2014 to 2018.
Society’s participation in this event is very important, because the hearings are held whenever ANEEL discusses matters related to the rights and interests of the consumers and energy companies. The tariff reviews promoted by ANEEL are preceded by public hearings, in which the agency seeks to hear society and receive contributions from the sector’s agents and those interested in the process. After finalizing the contribution period, the subject will be discussed in a Board of Director’s meeting, which will decide on the final index to be practiced by the distribution company starting 06/29/2013. The tariff review is foreseen in the concession contracts and has the objective of obtaining the balance of the tariffs based on remuneration of the investment of the companies aimed at the distribution service providing and the coverage of expenses effectively acknowledged by ANEEL. It is applied in the distribution concession companies every four years, on average.
Eletrocar serves approximately 34 thousand consumer units in the cities of Carazinho and Chapada, in Rio Grande do Sul.
