The Board of Directors of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL – Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) approved the public hearing to obtain information about the commercial provisions for the application of the white tariff. The hearing will be next Thursday (05/09) and will receive contributions until 08/06.

By the proposal in hearing the acquisition cost of new meters will be the distributors, with subsequent transfer to tariffs. As the deadlines for accession to the new tariff category, there will be two situations. If on their first connection, the consumer chooses the white tariff the deadlines are the same as Resolution No. 414/2010, i.e. five days for urban residential consumers (three days for inspection and two days for the connection) and 10 days for non-residential urban consumers (five days for the inspection and five days for connection). If the consumer is already served by the conventional way and wants to join the white tariff the period for the change is 30 days after the request.

The public hearing will count on live sessions in the cities of Brasília, São Paulo, Curitiba, Belém and Recife, with dates and locations to be disclosed at a later date.
