Starting on 05/31 and ending on 07/01 is the term for sending contributions to Public Hearing No. 055/2013, which purpose is to discuss the procedures of Resolution No. 500/2012 for reimbursement of the cost of fuel for facility that utilizes domestic mineral coal, through the Energy Development Account – CDE [Conta de Desenvolvimento Energético].

According to the current policy, the beneficiary agent who receives reimbursement of the cost of mineral coal consumption must prove the reasonableness of the purchase price of the fuel. However, Eletrobrás pointed out difficulties in defining the requirements for proof of this reasonableness. To solve the problem, the Agency suggests in the public hearing the compatibility of the contract price be verified with the cost of each mining company, evaluating the efficiency and timeliness of the techniques of mining and processing of coal and transportation to the plant, according to domestic and international market references according to the type and volume of production, and an indication of the need to upgrade technology in the production process of coal.
