The Board of Directors of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) approved on this Tuesday (05/28) the result of Auction No. 03/2013, bidding procedure performed to contract out the provision of public distribution of electricity in the municipalities of Putinga and Anta Gorda, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Thus, the Rio Grande Energia S.A.-RGE, dealership winner of the contest held on 05/03 at ANEEL, shall sign an addendum to the contract when convened by the Agency.
The Departamento Municipal de Energia Elétrica de Putinga (DEMEEP) which served the region did not have the grant of the right to the concession to operate the service and, therefore, the Agency began the process of regularization. With this, consumers now have the benefits of a regulated utility – like rate and continuation rates approved by ANEEL. (PG/JS)
