The electricity bills issued on or after June 1 must inform consumers of tariff flags, which reflect an estimate on the cost of energy in the current month. The measure aims to facilitate the consumers’ understanding during the year 2013, the testing period for the application of tariff flags.
The test will serve to disseminate among consumers the concept of tariff flags, which will take effect starting in January 2014. The flags will function as a traffic light which indicates the cost difference of power generation for the consumer. The Green Flag means low costs to generate energy. The Yellow Flag indicates a sign of attention because generation costs are increasing. In turn, the Red Flag indicates energy supply to meet consumer demand occurs with higher generation costs, for example, the activation of large amounts of thermal energy to generate, which is a source more expensive than hydroelectric plants.
For the month of just red flags were activated. See here. At this linkthe calendar expected for the disclosure of the flags is available.
The commercial procedures for application of the tariff flags were determined by Normative Resolution No. 547/2013. (DB/CS/JV/AC/PG/JS)
