A live session of the Public Hearing to discuss the 3rd Tariff Revision of Espírito Santo Centrais Elétricas (Escelsa) held on the afternoon of Thursday (3/13), in Vitória (ES), with the participation of about 70 people, with 13 onsite presentations by representatives of society. Escelsa serves 1.3 million consumer units in 70 municipalities of Espírito Santo.
The session aimed to discuss the proposed preliminary reduction of -0.77% (negative) for tariffs of the concessionaire’s residential consumers. For industries, the proposal is for an average increase of 4.88%. The hearing will also discuss the quality of the service and limits of continuity indicators *DEC and **FEC of Escelsa stipulated for the period 2014-2016.
Tariff revisions promoted by ANEEL are preceded by public hearings, in which the agency seeks to listen to society and receive contributions of agents from the sector and stakeholders in the process. After the end of the contribution period, the matter will be deliberated at a Board meeting, which will establish the final index to be practiced by the distributor as from 8/7/2013. Tariff revision is provided in the concession agreements and aims to obtain the balance of tariffs based on the return on investments of companies focused on the provision of distribution services and coverage of expenses actually recognized by ANEEL. It is applied to the concessionaire of Espírito Santo every three years. (JS/DB)
