Tariff Flags for the month of July were released for the entire country. The yellow flag was activated for the North, Northeast, Southeast/Midwest subsystems indicating less favorable generation conditions. The green flag was activated for the south subsystem, representing favorable energy generation conditions. If the system had been in effect, in the regions with a yellow flag, the tariff would suffer a R$ 1.50 increase per 100 kilowatt-hours (KWh) consumed. In the green flag regions, there would be no increase.
In order to facilitate an understanding of the tariff flags, 2013 will be a Test Year.As an educational measure, the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) releases the flags that would be in operation month by month.
Besides that, the energy distributors will inform the simulation of the flag application for your region's subsystem on the energy bill. The consumer can then understand which flag would be in effect that month, if the tariff flags were already in operation. The commercial procedures for applying the tariff flags were determined by Normative Resolution no. 547/2013.Read more here.(PG/DB)
