The National Electricity Agency (ANEEL) is holding on Wednesday (07/03) at 14:00 a live session of the public audience to obtain information regarding the trade provisions for the application of the white tariff. The session will take place at the headquarters of the National Electricity Agency (ANEEL) SGAN, located on 603 North H module, Brasília-DF.

The white tariff category will offer three different levels for the energy rate, according to the hours of consumption. From Monday through Friday, a cheaper rate will be used in most hours of the day and a more expensive one, at the times when the power consumption reaches its peak in the early evening; and the third one, as an intermediate rate, will be applied among those two schedules. On weekends and holidays, the cheapest rate will be used for all hours of the day.

The proposed white rate aims to encourage consumption at times when the fare is cheaper, thus reducing the invoice amount at the end of the month and the need for expansion of the distribution network to meet peak hours. The white rate is optional, and if the consumer does not want to modify their consumption habits, the standard rate will remain available.

According to the proposal presented at the audience, the distributors will be in charge of the acquisition cost of the new meters, with subsequent transfer to tariffs. As the deadlines for adherence to the new tariff category there are two situations: If when making the first connection, consumers opt for white rate, then the deadlines will remain the same as in Resolution No. 414/2010, that is, five days for urban residential consumers (three days for inspection and two days for the connection) and 10 days for non-urban residential consumers (five days for the survey and five days for connection). If the consumer is already served by the conventional way and wants to join the white rate for the period, the deadline for this change will be 30 days from the request.

Besides Brasília, the public hearing will include presential sessions in the cities of São Paulo, Curitiba, Recife and Belém. In addition to the live sessions, interested parties may send contributions until 06/08 to the e-mail ap043_2013@aneel.gov.br or to the Agency address: SGAN, Quadra 603, Módulo I, Térreo, Protocolo Geral, CEP: 70.830-110, Brasília – DF.
