LT 02/2013The Transmission Auction No. 02/2013 conducted by the National Electricity Agency (ANEEL) on Friday (07/12) has been closed. The event was held by 19 competitors who rounded off five of the seven allotments. Allotments A and G weren’t offered any bids and presented an average negative goodwill of 12.76%. This means that the income of entrepreneurs to explore investment will be lower than originally planned, contributing to low rates of energy.

The largest negative goodwill, 17.35%, was verified in the allotment D, won by the MGF – Energy Consortium. The allotment F was decided through a raffle, after a tie between the tenders of two competitors, having been auctioned by the Pantanal Consortium. The allotments A and G must be resubmitted for future auctions.

The Director of ANEEL, Andre Pepitone da Nobrega, highlighted the success of the auction, represented by negative goodwill of 12.76% even in view of the WACC reduction from 5% to 4.6%. According to the Director, the allotment shall be resubmitted in the future because it is important to reduce development costs with fuel oil in the region of Acre. The Director took the opportunity to remind that the Transmission Line Tucuruí-Manaus went into operation last Tuesday, which should result in expected savings of R$ 1.9 billion dollars per year in fuel. The line will put an end to the isolation of the states of Amazonas and Amapá.

Asley Stecca, representative of the Vale do São Bartolomeu consortium, winner of the allotment B, highlighted the importance of the project for Distrito Federal, and stated it would be a challenge to build underground lines in the capital, but the goal is to deliver the work within the prescribed period.

The work deadline will range from 24 to 36 months. Transmission facilities will be built in seven Brazilian states and Distrito Federal. Find more information here. (LP)
