The board of directors of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL – Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) decided this Tuesday (07/16) for the opening of public hearing, through documentary exchange, with the objective of receiving contributions for the improvement of the methodology of determination of value for reimbursement due to the studies used in the tender processes of generation and transmission of electricity. The period for contributions is from July 18 to August 19.

With regard to generation projects, the proposal is to estimate the future reimbursements based on those already made, allowing the interested party to predict previously the reimbursement and correct information asymmetries viewing efficiency. In addition, there is the proposal to pay a 10% premium to developers of hydropower generation studies of good quality, taking into account criteria such as the approval of the study of the hydroelectric inventory of the hydrographic basin or technical and economic feasibility of harnessing hydropower without complementation.

Regarding the transmission projects, the current method of reimbursement for costs must be replaced by price reimbursement. The idea is that there is greater transparency in the process and encourage the quality and efficiency of projects.
