The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency approved last Tuesday (07/16) the standards that discipline the Verified Physical Guarantee – Gfa (from the Portuguese, Garantia Física Apurada). The calculation of Gfa will be applied to wind farms and inflexible thermal plants with null Unit Variable Cost – CVU, connected to the National Interconnected System – SIN, whose physical guarantee has been established in specific legislation.

The purpose of the regulation is to match the marketing capability with generation capacity of each plant and, thus, encourage the generation of energy by the entrepreneurs. The decision is result of Public Hearing No. 84/2012 and received contributions in the period of 10/11 to 11/12/2012. Consult the documents here. (LP/PG)
