ANEEL (the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency) announced on Dec. 3rd that it removed Cachoeira, Ribeiro Gonçalves and Itacoara I hydroelectric utilizations from Energy Auction 10/2013 (A-5), held on Dec. 13. Cachoeira hydroelectric utilization was removed due to the absence of a Water Availability and Prior License Reserve Statement. For Ribeiro Gonçalves hydroelectric utilization, no Water Availability Reserve Statement has been submitted. Itacoara hydroelectric utilization was removed due to the new Water Availability Reserve Value.
The dispute will involve the acquisition of electric energy from new generation projects of hydroelectric, wind, solar and thermoelectric sources — biomass, coal or natural gas in combined cycle —, with supply starting on May 1st, 2018.
For São Manoel UHE (over 50 MW), the reference price will be R$ 107.00/MWh (reais per megawatt-hour). For UHEs (hydroelectric power plants) and PCHs (small hydroelectric power plants) of 50 MW or less, the reference price will be R$ 144.00/MWh. For the expansion of Santo Antônio UHE, the price will be R$ 102.00/MWh. Thermoelectric power plants by availability will have the initial price of R$ 144.00MWh. Wind and solar power plants by availability will have their price of R$ 122.00/MWh.
