The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) ended today (03/13), in Caxias do Sul (RS), the contribution phase for the public hearing for the second periodic tariff review of Rio Grande Energia S/A (RGE), started this past February 15th.
The meeting lead by Aneel director Edvaldo Alves de Santana counted on the participation of 230 people, of whom 26 presented contributions. Present were consumers and representatives from commercial and neighborhood associations, from large consumers, from city governments and other public and private associations.
The average preliminary review index for the distribution company was -0.74%. After the analysis of the contributions sent in writing and collected during the hearing, Aneel will define RGE’s final index, which will go in effect this coming April 19th. The distribution company serves 1.15 million consumer units in 262 municipal districts in Rio Grande do Sul.
The tariff reduction proposed is resulting of the company’s greater productivity and of the lower average capital cost (which defines the distribution leasers’ remuneration). The technical note with the review proposal is available on the link “A Aneel/Audiências/Consultas/Fórum” at Aneel’s electronic address (www.aneel.gov.br).
The tariff review is foreseen in the concession contracts to obtain the balance of tariffs based on the remuneration of the companies’ investments aimed towards distribution service rendering and expense coverage effectively recognized by Aneel. It is applied to the distribution leasers every four years, on average. More information about the review can be obtained at the link “InformaçõesTécnicas/Tarifas-Consumidores Finais/Revisão Tarifária Periódica” on the Agency’s internet page (www.aneel.gov.br).
