The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) ended today (03/28), in Aracaju (SE), another step of the public hearing of the periodic tariff review for the distributor Empresa Energética de Sergipe S/A (Energipe). The meeting, lead by Aneel director Edvaldo Alves de Santana, had the participation of approximately 62 representatives of consumers, consumer defense institutions, social movements, politicians and all other civil society segments. Of the total of those present, approximately 18 presented suggestions to perfect the process.
The preliminary review index proposed establishes an average reduction of 9.71% (-9.71%) for the distributor’s tariffs. Energipe supplies electricity for 512 thousand consumer units in 63 municipal districts in Sergipe.
Started this past March 6th, the hearing process will have its contribution phase officially ended this coming April 2nd, the deadline for sending written manifestations. The documents with the review proposal for the Energipe review are available on the link A Aneel/ Audiências/Consultas/Fórum, on the agency’s electronic page (www.aneel.gov.br). After the analysis of the manifestations sent in writing and collected during today’s hearing, Aneel will define Energipe’s final index, which will go in effect this coming April 22nd. Upon the divulgation of this index the Agency will inform the review percents differentiated by consumption class (residential, industrial, commercial).
Besides Energipe, another 35 companies are going through the review process this year. In 2007, seven distribution leasers were submitted to the tariff review: Coelce (CE), Eletropaulo (SP), Escelsa (ES), Celpa (PA) and Elektro (SP), Bandeirante (SP) and CPFL Piratininga (SP). In 2009, it will be 17 companies and, in 2010, it will be the last two distributors in the review’s second cycle.
The tariff review is foreseen in the concession contracts to obtain the balance of tariffs based on the remuneration of the companies’ investments aimed towards distribution service rendering and expense coverage effectively recognized by Aneel. It is applied to the distribution leasers every four years, on average. More information about the review can be obtained at the link “InformaçõesTécnicas/Tarifas-Consumidores Finais/Revisão Tarifária Periódica” on the Agency’s internet page (www.aneel.gov.br).
