Today (4/3), in Assis (SP), the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) complied with one more public hearing phase for the Empresa de Distribuição de Energia Vale Paranapanema S/A periodic tariff revision, holding a live public session conducted by Agency director Romeu Donizete Rufino and with the participation of the State of São Paulo Sanitation and Energy Regulatory Agency (Arsesp), Zevi Kahn. The company supplies electric power to about 149.6 thousand consumer units in 27 townships in
The hearing was opened at 8am in the auditorium of the University Paulista and counted on the presence of 45 participants including representatives of the Consumer Board, industry, rural producers, unions, consumer defense institutions and city hall.
Aneel’s preliminary proposal for Paranapanema foresees an average reduction of 9.29% (-9.29%) for the distributor’s tariffs. The negative index is the result of the distributor’s greater productivity and lower average cost of capital, which defines concessionaire remuneration.
The documents with the distributor’s revision proposal have been available at A Aneel/ Audiências/Consultas/Fórum, on the Agency’s home page (www.aneel.gov.br) since last March 6. After analysis of the contributions sent in writing and gathered during the hearing, Aneel will define Paranapanema’s final index, which will go into effect next May 10.
In 2008, 36 companies shall undergo the periodic tariff revision process. In 2007, seven distribution concessionaires underwent the revision: Coelce (CE), Eletropaulo (SP), Escelsa (ES), Celpa (PA) and Elektro (SP), Bandeirante (SP) and CPFL Piratininga (SP). In 2009, 17 companies will undergo the process and in 2010 it will be the turn for the final two distributors in the second revision cycle.
