Auction of the Jirau Plant has two enrolled participants

The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) ended today (05/12) the enrollment of those interested in participating in the auction of energy from the Jirau hydroelectric plant to be held on May 19th, at 2 p.m., at the Agency’s headquarters in Brasília, through a Private Computer Network. The necessary documentation for enrollment was presented by two consortiums. Below, the relation of those enrolled with the companies that compose each consortium and their participation

 

1)              JIRAU ENERGIA CONSORTIUM

Odebrecht Investimentos em Infra-Estrutura Ltda. (17.6%);
Construtora Norberto Odebrecht S/A (1%);
Andrade Gutierrez Participações S/A (12.4%);
Cemig Geração e Transmissão S/A (10%);
Furnas Centrais Elétricas S/A (39%) and
Fundo de Investimentos e Participações Amazônia Energia II (FIP – formed by Banif and Santander banks) (20%)

 

2)              ENERGIA SUSTENTÁVEL DO BRASIL CONSORTIUM

Suez Energy South América Participações Ltda. (50.1%);
Camargo Corrêa Investimentos em Infra-Estrutura S/A (9.9%);
Eletrosul Centrais Elétricas S/A (20%) and
Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco – Chesf (20%),

Buyers – 32 distribution dealers enrolled for buying the energy generated by the UHE Jirau. The list will be disclosed after the contribution of the guarantees.

Guarantees – By the chronogram, the enrolled companies should deliver (contribution) the participation guarantees and withdraw the passwords for access to the system next Wednesday (05/14) at Maksoud Plaza hotel, on Alameda Campinas, Bela Vista neighborhood, in São Paulo, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the proponents (salesmen), the guarantees correspond to 1% of the investment value; and for the buyers, it corresponds to the value of R$ 2 thousand per average megawatt (MW) demand declared. These parameters are defined on page 15 of the edict in item 7.

Auction – The auction will be promoted by Aneel and the operation will be by the Chamber of Commercialization of Electric Energy (CCEE), under the Agency’s delegation. The guidelines approved by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) are listed in ordinance nº 36/20008. UHE Jirau will have 3,300 megawatts of installed capacity. The undertaking should generate energy starting in January of 2013, date foreseen for entering in operation of the first three generating units. The project includes the installation of 44 turbines and the reservoir area will have 258 square kilometers. The deadline, counting from the signing of the concession contract to the final implementation of the undertaking, is 90 month, equivalent to 7.5 years. The total investment value, assessed by Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (EPE), for building the UHE Jirau was defined in R$ 8.7 billion, with a reference date of October 2007.
