Auction of 19 transmission lines has 40 interested parties

32 companies and eight consortiums delivered the documentation for pre-qualification

The documents of 32 companies and eight consortiums were delivered today (05/12/05) to the Companhia Brasileira de Liquidação e Custódia (CBLC) in São Paulo for the pre-qualification for the auction of concessions from 19 transmission lines and 20 substations, which the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency will hold on June 27th. Of the investors interested in participating, individually or in consortium, 34 are from Brazil and six from Spain.

Aneel’s Special Tender Commission will analyze the documentation and will disclose the list of those pre-qualified this coming May 23rd. According to the tender edict, the companies should deposit the guarantees the day before the auction, June26th, by 2 p.m., also at CBLC in São Paulo. The auction will be held in the installations of the Rio de Janeiro Stock Market, in a public session conducted by the São Paulo Stock Market (Bovespa), starting at 10 a.m.

Added up, the lines will add 3 thousand kilometers to the Basic Network of the National Interconnected System (SIN) and will be built in 112 states: Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. The deadlines for starting operation vary from 15 to 36 months, counting from the signing of the concession contracts. The total investments are estimated at R$ 2.86 billion. The implementation of the enterprises will allow for the generation of 28.6 thousand direct jobs.
