Relevant Announcement discloses time intermission for bids at the auction

The Special Tender Commission at the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) disclosed today (16/05), through Relevant Announcement nº 5, the relation of eight distributors that will also participate as buyers in the auction of energy from the Jirau hydroelectric plant. The complete relation totals 39 distribution companies, as buyers, since 31 distributors were already fit to participate in the auction. The Announcement informs also that the companies will have compulsory participation, according to Law n° 10.848/2004.

The eight distributors are CAIUÁ Distribuição de Energia S/A; CELPA – Centrais Elétricas de Pará S/A; CELTINS – Companhia de Energia Elétrica do Estado do Tocantins; CEMAT – Centrais Elétricas Matogrossenses S/A; CFLO – Companhia Força e Luz do Oeste;  CNEE – Companhia Nacional de Energia Elétrica ; EEB – Empresa Elétrica Bragantina S/A; and EEVP – Empresa de Distribuição de Energia Vale do Parapanema S/A.

Besides these companies, on this past May 14th, 31 distribution leasers paid the contribution of guarantees and are fit to buy energy from the UHE Jirau. See the list here.

Times – The Special Tender Commission at the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) defined the time intervals that will be adopted in the system employed for the auction of the energy from the Jirau hydroelectric plant. In the Relevant Announcement nº 06, disclosed today on the electronic page www.aneel.gov.br, the Commission informs the times for insertion of the bid in the first phase and in the rounds of the second phase in the auction to be practiced by the participants during the competition, according to the detailing of the systematic.

The Announcement also establishes the times between the phases and the rounds, and for the definition of the percent designated to the Regular Contracting Environment (ACR). The detailing of the systematic explains in a detailed manner the rules and procedures of the dispute established in Ordinance nº 114/2008 of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME).

The representatives of participating consortiums should be present at the Aneel headquarters, in Brasília at 12 p.m. on Monday (05/19). The auction, which will start at 2 p.m., will be held via an electronic system in a closed environment with the proponents in confinement regime.

Auction – Next Monday (05/19) starting at 2 p.m., on Aneel’s dependencies in Brasília, the auction of the second hydroelectric plant of the Madeira River Complex, the Jirau plant with 3,300 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, will be held. The dispute will be between two consortiums Jirau Energia and Energia Sustentável do Brasil. Both confirmed their participation by depositing the proposal guarantees last Wednesday (05/14). For the proponents, the guarantees correspond to 1% of the investment value, which is of R$ 8.7 billion.
