The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) holds today (05/19), starting at 2 p.m., the auction of energy from the UHE Jirau, the second plant of the Madeira River Hydroelectric Complex, in Rondônia. The plant will have 3,300 megawatts of installed capacity and should generate energy starting in January 2013. The value of the investment, evaluated by the Company of Energetic Research (EPE), was defined in R$ 8.7 billion, with a reference date of October 2007.
Two consortiums participate in the auction that will be held through a Private Computer Network installed in the Agency’s headquarters, in Brasília.
Below, the composition of each consortium, with a list of the companies and participation:
1) JIRAU ENERGIA CONSORTIUM Odebrecht Investimentos
2) ENERGIA SUSTENTÁVEL DO BRASIL CONSORTIUM Suez Energy South América Participações Ltda. (50.1%); Camargo Corrêa Investimentos
Last Friday (16/05), the Special Tender Commission at Aneel disclosed through Relevant Announcement n°5, the list of eight distributors that will also participate as buyers in the auction of energy from the Jirau hydroelectric plant. The complete list totals 39 distribution companies, as buyers, since 31 distributors were already fit to participate in the auction, see the list here. The Announcement informs also that the companies will have compulsory participation, according to Law n° 10.848/2004.
