Altogether, there are 31 thermoelectric plants and four small hydroelectric plants (SHP).

The plants are located in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and Goiás and total 2,317.66 megawatts (MW) of installed power. In the registration phase, 57 plants filled out the form available on the Energy Research Company’s (EPE) site.

The transmission ventures to be tendered, called Transmission Installations of Exclusive Interest to Generation Plants for Shared Connection (ICG), shall function as collection stations for energy produced by the plants implemented in their respective areas of operation.

Regulation of installations – The criteria and general conditions for ICG classification were approved by Aneel and are defined in the Normative Resolution no. 320/2008, which establishes the procedures wind energy generation plants, biomass ventures and small hydroelectric plants (SHP) to access the Interconnected System’s Basic Network. The Public Calling for registering ventures interested in sharing the ICGs was approved by Authorization Resolution no. 654/2008, in compliance with Decrees 2.655/1998 and 6.460/2008.

This process permits the participation of these plants in the first reserve energy auction, directed towards biomass ventures, projected for July 30 of this year. According to the estimated timetable for the public hearing, disclosure of the final list of ICGs will be next July 17.
