The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) ended today (07/09), in Florianópolis (SC), the contribution phase for the public hearing for the second periodic tariff review of distributor Centrais Elétricas de Santa Catarina (Celesc), started this past June 11th.

The meeting counted on the presence of 112 participants, among which were representatives from unions, from the Celesc Consumer Council, from the National Association of Electricity Consumers (Anace) and the Public Ministry.

The average preliminary review index was -9.18% (negative). After the analysis of the contributions sent in writing and collected during the hearing, Aneel will define Celesc’s final index, which will go in effect this coming August 7th. The distributor serves approximately 2.16 million consumer units in 260 Santa Catarina municipalities and in the municipality of Rio Negro, in Paraná.

The tariff reduction proposed is resulting of the company’s greater productivity and of the lower average capital cost (which defines the distribution leasers’ remuneration). The technical note with the review proposal for Celesc is available on the link “A Aneel/Audiências/Consultas/Fórum” at Aneel’s electronic address (www.aneel.gov.br).

The tariff review is foreseen in the concession contracts to obtain the balance of tariffs based on the remuneration of the companies’ investments aimed towards distribution service rendering and expense coverage effectively recognized by Aneel. It is applied to the distribution leasers every four years, on average. More information about the review can be obtained at the link “InformaçõesTécnicas/Tarifas-Consumidores Finais/Revisão Tarifária Periódica” on the Agency’s internet page (www.aneel.gov.br).
