The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) concluded the revision analysis process for the Xingu River Hydroelectric Inventory Studies in the section that refers to Belo Monte, in Pará. The dispatch with the approval of the study will be published next Monday (7/28) in the Official Federal Gazette.

Delimiting the inventory to the region of the township of Altamira ratifies the decision expressed in Resolution no. 06/2008, of the National Council on Energy Policy (CNPE), which defined Belo Monte as the only potential to be explored on the Xingu. The study identified a generation potential of 11,187 megawatts (MW) in this section of the river, with a reservoir area equal to 440 square kilometers (km²).

Approval of the study made by Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S/A (Eletrobrás), in partnership with Construções e Comércio Camargo Corrêa S/A, Construtora Andrade Gutierrez S/A and Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, is the first step for the government’s including Belo Monte in a future tender.

Those interested in obtaining a copy of the document on CD can request one in the next few days from Aneel’s Documentation Center (Cedoc) by phone (61) 2192-8668. For such, you must send blank CDs to replace the media on which the requested study is recorded.
