Customers and associations introduce contributions for the CEB tax adjustment.
08/04/2008
Aneel (Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency) finished today (08/04), in Brasília (DF), the stage of contributions to the second periodical CEB Distribuição S/A tax adjustment public hearing, which began on the last July the 3rd.
The hearing counted on the presence of 88 members, among whom the trade unions, the Brazilian Electricity Consumers Association (Anace), the Brazilian Electricity Distributors Association (Abradee), the Brazilian Large Industrial Energy Consumers Association and Free Customers (Abrace) representatives, as well as customers.
The preliminary adjustment index is of -5.18% (negative). Following analysis of the contributions sent in writing and collected during the hearing, Aneel will define CEB’s final index, which is going to come into operation on the next August the 26th. The distributor serves about 753,000 thousand consuming units in the Brazilian Federal District.
The proposed tax reduction results from the greater company’s productivity and the lower capital average cost (which defines the concessionaire’s remuneration). The technical note with CEB’s adjustment proposal is available at link ’A Aneel/Audiências/Consultas/Fórum‘ on Aneel’s home page (www.aneel.gov.br).
The tax adjustment is determined in the concession contracts so as to obtain the balance between taxes, based on the remuneration of the companies’ investments on distribution services and the settling of costs effectively recognized by Aneel. It is applied on distribution concessionaires each four years, generally. More information on the adjustment may be obtained at the link ‘InformaçõesTécnicas/Tarifas-Consumidores Finais/Revisão Tarifária Periódica‘ on the Agency’s home page. (www.aneel.gov.br).
