The Aneel Special Bidding Commission released a new list of companies able to deposit guarantees to participate in the 6th new energy auction (A-3), which will be held next 17th over the Internet. The list (see here) includes 193 businesses that shall participate in the auction by depositing guarantees next Monday (9/8), from 9am to 5pm at the Transamerica Flat International Plaza, located at Alameda Santos, no. 981, Cerqueira César district, São Paulo.

Due to the new publication by the Energy Research Company (EPE) of qualified plants, all prior lists, released last August 1 and 8, are no longer valid. Of the 193 businesses, 144 are thermoelectric and 49 are wind energy plants.

The auction will negotiate energy commercialization contracts over the Internet with supply beginning in January 2011. The initial ceiling price set by the MME and included in the public announcement will be R$ 150 per megawatt-hour (MWh). The auction is geared towards new generation ventures that have yet to be granted, expansion projects at existing plants and energy importation ventures.

All electric energy distribution concessionaires that sent their electric energy purchase needs for 2011 to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) must participate as buyers, as determined by the Ministry itself.

Relevant communiqué no. 7 – The Commission also published a relevant communiqué (see here) with the list of the Transmission System Use Tariffs (Tust) for 11 new plants that will participate in auction A-3. The tariffs were approved by Aneel’s directorate, in an extraordinary meeting held yesterday (9/2). The ventures are part of the final list of plants technically qualified by the EPE. All information related to the A-3 is available at Espaço do Empreendedor at the Editais de Geração link on the Agency’s web site (www.aneel.gov.br).
