Light”s (RJ) tariff proposal revision is presented in open court

Fonte: ANEELThe Electric Energy National Agency (Aneel) finished today, 10/10, one more phase of the second periodic tariff revision open court of Light Serviços de Eletricidade S/A, holding the present hearing in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The open court, which started last 11th September, was conducted by Aneel’s director, Joísa Campanher Dutra.

The meeting had the participation of 178 people, like: consumers, Rio de Janeiro City Hall’s representatives, Associação  Brasileira de Grandes Consumidores Industriais de Energia e de Consumidores Livres (Abrace), Light employee’s association, Engineers Syndicate, and others.

Aneel changed the arrival criterion for the drawing one in order to define the list of people that got registered as expositors in the live session. The goal of the expositor system change, that was valid only for Light open court, is to make the participation of the society in the process even more transparent.

The Agency’s proposal forecasts an average raise of 3,14%, which will be noticed by the consumers in the supply bill. After the analysis of the in-writing sent contributions and collected during the hearing, Aneel will define Light’s final index, which will be valid from 7th November on. The result will be approved in a board’s open meeting, which will be held at Aneel’s headquarters, in Brasília, and broadcasted by the Internet.

Light serves approximately 3,5 million consumer units, in 31 Rio de Janeiro state cities, including the capital. The technical note with the revision proposal is available at the linkA Aneel/ Audiências/Consultas/Fórum‘ at Aneel’s electronic address (www.aneel.gov.br).

The tariff revision is stated in the concession contracts aiming to balance the tariffs based on the investment profitability of the companies oriented to power distribution, and the payment of the expenses effectively recognized by Aneel. It is applied in the distribution companies every four year, at the average. For Light, the contract establishes a 5-year period for each revision.

Besides Light, other 35 disstribuidoras go under the second tariff revision cycle this year. In 2009, they will be 17 companies. Two more companies will be submitted to revision in 2010. In 2007, seven distribution companies went under the process: Coelce (CE), Eletropaulo (SP), Escelsa (ES), Celpa (PA), Elektro (SP), Bandeirante (SP) and CPFL Piratininga (SP).
