The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) performed today (11/14), in Estância, state of Sergipe, the onsite stage for contributions to the public auction of the second periodical tax adjustment of the distributor Companhia Sul Sergipana de Eletricidade (Sulgipe), initiated on the last October 22.

The auction has been conducted by Aneel’s director Edvaldo Alves Santana and counted on the attendance of 56 participants, among customer, aldermen and city hall representatives.

The average preliminary index of the adjustment is of -1.61% (negative). After the analysis of the contributions sent in written and collected during the auction, Aneel is going to define Sulgipe’s final index, which will be in force as from the next February 14. The distributor supplies electricity to about 109.4 thousand consuming units in 14 municipalities in southern Sergipe and two in northeastern Bahia.

The proposed tax reduction is a result of the company’s higher productivity and the lower average capital cost (which defines the concessionaires’ remuneration). The technical note with Sulgipe’s adjustment proposal is available on the link ‘A Aneel/Audiências/Consultas/Fórum‘ at Aneel’s website (www.aneel.gov.br).

The tax adjustment is established in the concession contracts in order to balance the taxes on the basis of remuneration of investments by the companies for the rendering of distribution services and coverage of expenses effectively acknowledged by Aneel. It is applied in the distribution concessionaires after each four years, average. More information about the adjustment may be obtained on the link ‘InformaçõesTécnicas/Tarifas-Consumidores Finais/Revisão Tarifária Periódica‘ at the Agency’s website (www.aneel.gov.br).
