The Prêmio Índice Aneel de Satisfação do Consumidor (Iasc – Aneel Customer Satisfaction Index Award) was granted today (11/19) at Aneel headquarters, in Brasília, to the electricity distributors best evaluated by residential consumers for the services rendered this year.  The winning companies receive a trophy, a certificate and an Iasc Seal, which identifies the consumers acknowledgement of their performance. The Award has been granted annually, since 2002, to encourage the improvement of the distribution service in the country.

The award is divided into nine categories: Iasc Brasil, which awards the company with the best performance in the country; Iasc for greatest percentage growth in 2008, in comparison with 2007; and the regional Iasc, which covers seven categories per region and number of consumers served. The criteria adopted by the methodology allows for comparing companies with similar profiles.

The winning distribution leasers can apply the Iasc Seal on electricity bills, to institutional material and on other business communication objects according to the rules foreseen in the award regulation.

The average national index was 62.62, a value slightly lower than 2007 – 65.39. Check below the list of winners in each category. Iasc Brasil 2008 Award

The winner of the Iasc Brasil 2008 Award was distribution leaser Iguaçu Distribuidora de Energia Elétrica Ltda, which presented the best consumer evaluation among the 64 distributors from the entire country. The distributor’s Iasc 2008 was 83.98, above the national average – 62.62. The company serves approximately 27 thousand consumer units in the Santa Catarina municipalities of Xanxerê, Xaxim, Entre Rios, Bom Jesus and Lajeado Grande. With the result, Iguaçu became a national reference (benchmark) until another Iasc survey is held.

Iasc 2006/2007 Greatest Company Growth Award

   The winner of this category – which awarded the company that obtained in 2008 the greatest growth of its satisfaction index in relation to 2007 – was Companhia de Eletricidade do Estado da Bahia (Coelba). The company’s Iasc grew 23.87%, going from 57.60, in 2007, to 71.35 in 2008. The distribution leaser serves approximately 4.3 million consumer units in 415 municipalities in Bahia. All the country’s distributor compete in this group.

Iasc Northern Region Award

Boa Vista Energia was the winner in this category with the index of 58.35. The region’s average index was 46.48. The distributor serves 73,760 consumer units in Boa Vista, capital of Roraima. Nine companies compete in this category.

Iasc Northeastern Region Award

     The distribution leaser that had the greatest satisfaction index in the Northeastern region was Companhia Sul Sergipana de Eletricidade (Sulgipe), with Iasc of 71.49. The average regional index was 62.12. The distribution leaser distributes electricity to approximately 109.4 thousand consumer units in 14 municipalities in southern Sergipe and two in northeast Bahia. The Northeast region covers 11 electricity distributors.

Iasc Mid-West Region Award

(Over 30 thousand consumer units)

The winner of Iasc award in the Mid-Western region was CEB Distribuição S/A, company responsible for serving 753 thousand consumer units in the Distrito Federal. The company’s index was 61.14. The average index for the Mid-Western region was 57.07. The group is formed by four distribution leasers that serve consumer units in the region.

Iasc Southern Region Award

(Over 400 thousand consumer units)

    The region’s Award was, for the second consecutive year, given to AES Sul Distribuidora Gaúcha de Energia S/A, with an Iasc of 67.77. The average regional index was 64.66. The distribution leaser serves 1.094 million consumer units in 118 municipalities of the metropolitan and mid-western regions of Rio Grande do Sul. The group includes five distribution leasers that serve more than 400 thousand consumer units in the Southern region.

Iasc Southeastern Region Award

(Over 400 thousand consumer units)

     The winner of the Iasc Award in the Southeast Region was Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz – CPFL Paulista. The distribution company serves 3.334 million consumer units in 234 municipal districts in São Paulo. The company’s Iasc was 73.76. The Region’s average in this category was 65.83. This group includes nine distribution leasers that serve more than 400 thousand consumer units in the Region.

Iasc Southern/Southeastern/Mid-West Regions Award

(Up to 30 thousand consumer units)

The company Iguaçu Distribuidora de Energia Elétrica Ltda, the best evaluated distribution leaser by the consumers in 2008, also received the award in this category with the index of 83.98. The group’s average was 69.03. The company supplies energy to approximately 27 thousand consumer units in the Santa Catarina Municipalities of Xanxerê, Xaxim, Entre Rios, Bom Jesus and Lajeado Grande. The group gathers the 12 distributors from these three regions that serve the market of up to 30 thousand consumer units. 

Iasc Southern/Southeastern Region Award

(Over 30 thousand and up to 400 thousand consumer units)

The winner of this group was the distributor Departamento Municipal de Eletricidade de Poços de Caldas (DMEPC), which serves 59,815 consumer units in the municipality of Poços de Caldas (MG). The company obtained an index of 81.19. The group’s average was 67.34. This group shelters the 14 distribution leasers with concession areas located in the two regions, and which serve between 30 thousand and 400 thousand consumer units.
