The board of directors of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) is signing today (12/16) the Cooperation Agreement along with the Agência Tocantinense de Regulação, Controle e Fiscalização de Serviços Públicos (ATR). The ceremony will be carried out at 17h at Aneel’s headquarters, in Brasília, and will count on the presence of the governor Marcelo Miranda and the ATR’s general-director, Nelito Vieira Cavalcante.

By means of this agreement, Aneel will provide the Tocantins Agency with some of their activities which are prone to decentralization, such as the supervision of services and installations of electricity by Celtins, the distributor responsible for the state’s energy supply.

ANEEL’s decentralization of activities has the objective of streamlining and improving the rendering of electricity services, approximating the Agency’s regulation actions and the consumers, being suitable to the local circumstances. The agreement entered into by both agencies will be effective for five years. The agreement’s amount will be R$5.1 million.

Aneel already has cooperation agreements with 11 agencies in the states of São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pará, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pernambuco, Goiás, Paraíba and Santa Catarina.
