Postponed the deadline for sending contributions to the public consult that handles the revision of the resolution about consumer councils

Aneel decided to postpone the deadline for the Public Consult that handles the proposal of the revision of the resolution which establishes the general conditions for forming, functioning and operating of the Electricity Consumers’ Council linked to the distributors. This review seeks to reinforce the representativeness, the consultant character and the Council’s account rendering, besides promoting greater interaction distribution leaser-Council.

The consult process will be ended on April 30, when the deadline ends for sending written manifestations. Those interested can participate also in the live sessions in the cities of Brasília (DF), Belém (PA), Fortaleza (CE), Recife (PE), São Paulo (SP) and Porto Alegre (RS). Among the themes handled in the revision of the standard, highlighted are those related to the governance of the Council; to the participation of the distribution leaser in the elaboration of the Annual Activity and Goals Plan (Plano Anual de Atividades e Metas – PAM) to be implemented by the Council; to the Council’s special interest projects, and to the distribution leaser’s right to compensate the resources made available to the Council through passing them onto the tariffs applicable to the final consumers, observing the maximum limits to be set annually by Aneel.

The Consumers Councils are entities created by the electricity distributors, as foreseen in Aneel Resolution n  138/2000. Constituted by voluntary members indicated by representative entities from the different consumption classes (residential, commercial, industrial, rural and public power) and by representatives of consumer protection and defense organs, its performance is aimed towards the guidance, analysis and evaluation of the matters related to electricity supply, tariffs and fitting of services rendered to the final consumer.
