The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) will be carrying out tomorrow (04/24) a public hearing in Recife in order to collect contributions from the society and other interested parties regarding the proposal of the readjustment that establishes general conditions for the formation, functioning and operationalization of the Electricity Customer Councils related to the distributors. The meeting will take place at 8:30 am at the Associação Brasil América’s (ABA) auditorium, located in Avenida Rosa e Silva, nº 1510, Aflitos. The Regulation Superintendent of the Agency’s Electricity Commercialization (SRC), Ricardo Vidinich, will conduct the consultation.
The Consumer Councils are entities created by the energy distributors, as established by the Aneel Resolution no. 138/2000. Comprising voluntary members appointed by representative entities of different consumption classes (residential, commercial, industrial, rural, and public power) and representatives of customer protection bodies, their performance is directed at the guidance, analysis and evaluation of issues related to the electricity supply, tariffs, and the adequacy of the services that are provided to final customers.
Besides Recife, Aneel carried out onsite public hearing sessions in the cities of Porto Alegre (RS), São Paulo (SP), and Fortaleza (CE). Live hearings are scheduled for this month in Belém (PA) and Brasília (DF).
