The Brazilian Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) decided to submit today to public hearing the announcement of the auction of energy hiring to be generated by the hydropower plant of Belo Monte, in the Xingu River, in Para The document will be available on the Agency website (www . aneel.gov.br) and contributions may be sent between November 5th and 11th, 2009.

The auction is scheduled for December 21st, according to Ordinance No. 417, of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, published on October 30th, with guidelines for completion of the event. The plant will have 11,233 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, starting supply scheduled for 2014.

The proposal of the announcement sets out the stages of registration, license, collateral pledge and conditions for grant. The auction will be held indoors and their acts of negotiation should occur in operational platform housed in private network of computers. Power generated by the plant will be subject to CCEAR (Contract Energy Trading in the Regulated Environment), in the form of amount of energy.
