Newsletter: The Board of ANEEL (National Energy Agency) approved on Tuesday, a change in the concession contracts for electricity distributors. Under the new rule, every time the market distributor grows the consumer may benefit from a reduction in the rate.
For the director-general of Aneel, Nelson Hübner, the Agency’s decision ensures greater balance to the sector.
The adjustments in the energy tariff of seven distributors, authorized by the Agency at the meeting on Tuesday already take into account the new rule. The calculation for the other distributors will run throughout the year, on the date of their adjustments. The change will be function as from this month of February.
A proposition to amend the contracts, approved today, was a theme at a Public Hearing in November 2009. At the time, 16 contributions from consumers, association of distributors, representatives of the legislative bodies and consumer protection were received.
