ANEEL (National Energy Agency) signed on Friday (the 5th) an order approving the studies on the Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) of Belo Monte.  With the previous license issued by IBAMA (Brazilian Institute of Renewable Natural Resources), and the declaration of a reserve of water availability, given by the ANA (National Water Agency), the signing of the order completes the approval process regarding the viability of the development of a technical-economic, social-environmental point of view and of the use of water resources.

The order will be published in the Official Journal of the Union (DOU) next Monday, the 8th.  Located in the region of Altamira, Vitória do Xingu and other cities in Pará surrounding the Trans-Amazon Highway, the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant will have minimum installed capacity of 11,233 MW, according to studies approved, with a reservoir of 516 km²
