The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) held the first auction for contracting electricity in Isolated Systems today (04/09)*. The auction, held at Tropical Hotel Manaus (AM) at 10am, negotiated energy generated from biomass.

The Contract for the Sale of Electricity from Isolated Systems (CCESI) will have a duration of 15 years. The CCESI will be authorized by Aneel, without registration at the Chamber of Electrical Energy Commercialization (CCEE). The dates for starting supply of the three contracts negotiated at the auction will be 2012 for Pará and 2013 for Roraima. The negotiated energy price at the auction ranged from R$ 148.50 MWh (reais per megawatt-hour) to R$ 149.00 MWh.

* Isolated Systems: they are electric energy transmission systems mainly installed in the north of the country and are not part of the National Interconnected System.
