Public bids of auctions of Reserve and A-3 are approved by ANEEL

The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) approved, on Thursday the 22nd, at a meeting of the college board of directors, the public bids of auctions 05/2010 (Reserve Power) and 07/2010 (A-3). The contests have been booked for August 25 and 26. The former refers to the Reserve Power Auction specifically for Small Hydropower Stations (PCH), generation projects from wind power, to supply power as of September 1, 2013, and generation projects from biomass source, with commencement of supply in 2011, 2012, and 2013. The latter (A-3) is aimed at the procurement of electricity for the National Interconnected System (SIN) from small PCHs, biomass and wind power plants to supply power as of 1 January 2013.

The initial cap price for submission of bids in the Reserve auction was set for each project as follows: Biomass – R$156.00/MWh; Wind Power – R$167.00/MWh and Small Hydropower Stations – R$ 155/MWh. 

In A-3, the initial price for products by availability (Wind and Biomass) was R$167.00/MWh. For products by quantity (PCHs) the initial price was set at R$155/MWh.The public bids will be available tomorrow, the 23rd, on the ANEEL website at Entrepreneur’s Space, ‘Generation Public Bids’.

The Reserve auction has 478 registered plants, totaling 14,529 megawatts (MW) in capacity. A-3 has another 39 projects with total capacity of 1,209MW.
