Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) approved today (27/07), a normative resolution, regulating the new rules put into force by Law No 12.212/2010 on the Social Tariff for Electric Energy (TSEE). The grant, which benefited all the units that were consuming less than 80 kWh per month, for instance, will be given to families enrolled in the Unified Register for Federal Government Social Programs (CadÚnico); families have per capita monthly income of up to half the minimum wage. Indigenous and Quilombolas will also benefit from the discount. CadÚnico is responsibility of the Ministry of Social Development and Fight against Hunger (MDS). See here who fits the new criteria of this social tariff.
The withdrawal of consumers’ benefit, which was entitled to receive the TSEE in accordance with the Law No. 10438/2002, is a legal requirement to be fulfilled by ANEEL within 24 months.
