ANEEL alerts for bogus e-mail on behalf of the Agency.

The National Energy Agency (ANEEL) reports that they learned of electronic message being wrongly attributed to the Agency. The bogus email leads the recipient to click a link to the alleged consultation to the copy of the delayed bill. ANEEL states they have no statutory authority to send warnings or notices regarding pending bill.

ANEEL also explains they forward e-mails in only two cases: to Internet users who performed a registration with the Agency to receive information about the energy sector and consumers who have used the services of the Sector Magistracy for registering complaints about the service provided by their distributor. Thus, we advise those who received the bogus e-mail not to access such link, since the procedure may compromise the security of their computer.
