The event, which started today (25), was the realization of two phases that comprised the sales of energy from biomass plants starting the supply in 2011 and 2012. Tomorrow (26), the reserve auction will go on with the third phase for recruitment of energy from biomass plants, the wind and small hydroelectric plants starting supply in 2013.
The Director-General of ANEEL, Nelson Hübner, said the initiative of holding exclusive auction to contract renewable sources is a milestone for the Brazilian electricity sector. ’It’s the first time you do an A-3 auction solely to recruit renewables sources’, said the CEO about the auction of alternative sources that will be held tomorrow.
The reserve energy auction promoted today by the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) and operated by the Board of Electric Energy Commercialization (CCEE) started at 10am. In the first phase starting supply in 2011, six power plants sold at an average price of 154.18 BRL / MWh (Brazilian real per megawatt-hour), which represented a discount of 1.16%. In the second phase, two power plants sold at an average price of 145.37 BRL / MWh at a discount of 6.81%. The top price for sale of energy from biomass plants was 156 BRL/MWh.
Tomorrow, the auction from alternative sources will be promoted, with the starting price for the products determined by availability (wind and biomass) at 167.00 BRL / MWh and for products by quantity (SHP), it will be 155 BRL/MWh.
