Auctions of alternative sources and of energy reserve promoted by the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) marketed average 1159 megawatts of 89 wind plants, small hydropower plants (SHP) and biomass. The total investment of auctions is 9.7 billion BRL. The power of the 89 plants total 2892.2 megawatts. The fairs were held on Wednesday (25) and Thursday (26), at the headquarters of the Board of Energy Commercialization (CCEE). The total auction average discount was 18.6%.
The Director-General of ANEEL, Nelson Hübner highlighted the fact that the auctions ensure clean, renewable and less costly energy to the country. ‘It is a privilege to hold auctions exclusively with renewable and competitively priced sources’, he said.
At the auction of alternative sources of supply starting in 2013, the average selling price of energy from small hydropower plants (products by quantity) was 146.99 BRL/MWh (Brazilian real per megawatt-hour), representing a discount of 5.17% of the initial price. For the product by biomass availability the average price was 137.92 BRL/MWh, with a discount of 17.41%, for the product by wind availability the average price was 134.1 BRL/MWh at a discount of 19.7 %. In total, 56 plants in the auction marketed energy from alternative sources (50 wind turbines, a biomass plant and five small hydropower plants). Click here to see the outcome of this contest. The duration of contracts for energy mediated by SHP is 30 years; for biomass and wind power plants, the duration is 20 years.
At the reserve auction, ending today with the third phase, three biomass plants, 20 wind plants and two small hydropower plants marketed energy at an average price of 125.07 BRL/MWh, with average discount of 23.5%. Check here the outcome of this phase. The reserve auction was launched yesterday (25) with two phases. The first, set to start supplying in 2011, six biomass plants sell power at the average price of 154.18 BRL/MWh (Brazilian real per megawatt-hour). In the second stage, two biomass plants sold energy at an average price of 145, 37 BRL/MWh. The duration of contracts for energy sold by SHP is 30 years, for wind plants, it is 20 years, and for biomass plants, it is 15 years.
