The company BEN Bioenergia Geração e Comercialização de Energia do Nordeste Ltda. was authorized by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) to expand the installed capacity of the thermal power plant BEN Bioenergia from 30MW to 45MW. The decision was taken at the meeting of the Agency’s college board of directors on 02/15. The increased potency of the thermal power plant is necessary to meet the committed proposed and ratified at the auction of the plant (Auction 001/2008). The thermal power plant, located in the municipality of Teotonio Vilela, in Alagoas, uses sugar cane bagasse as a fuel. (DB/GL)
