RBF Geração de Energia S/A has been authorized by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) to act as an independent electric energy producer. As an independent producer*, RBF can sell part or all of the electric energy produced, at its own expense and risk.

The company will install and exploit the Boa Vista Small Hydroelectric Plant on the Suaçui Pequeno River in the municipality of Coroaci, Minas Gerais. The Boa Vista SHP will generate 9 Megawatts (MW) of power from its two 4.5 MW generator units.

The basic design for the SHP was approved in August 2010. As a small plant, RBF will have the right to a 50% discount in the Transmission Use-of-System (TUST) and Distribution Use-of-System (TUSD) Charges while the power injected by the plant into the transmission or distribution systems is up to 30 MW.

According to ANEEL’s timetable, the plant's first unit should begin to generate energy commercially starting March 25, 2013, and the second by April 24 of the same year.

Today (3/24), ANEEL’s Generation Database (BIG) registers the existence of 911 independent producers of electric energy authorized by the Agency.   See the list of agents in the BIG  here. It can also be accessed on the Agency’s website at (www.aneel.gov.br), in Technical Information. The database is updated continuously. (DB/GL)
