Reinforcements and improvements will have R$257 million in investments

The Board of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) yesterday (03/30) approved the Systemic Interest Modernization Plan (PMIS) relating to the period 2010-2013.The PMIS contains a set of improvements and reinforcements to transmission facilities, in addition to renovation in distribution and renovation, needed for the appropriate provision of services.

For the period between 2010 (year when the plan was prepared) and 2013, a set of 564 works was defined, 5 of which are destined to generation, 69 to distribution, and 490 to transmission. As for the type of intervention, 332 are improvements and 158 are reinforcements.  For that purposes, investments at approximately R$257 millions are expected. The works and their deadlines for execution are described in Annex I of the Resolution that approves PMIS 2010-2013, to be published in the Official Gazette.

The draft resolution was submitted to public hearing (001/2011) from January 21 to February 11, 2011. During this period, ANEEL received 51 contributions, 71% of which were accepted or partially accepted. Analysis of the contributions was the target of a technical note that supported the decision of the Board. (GL/DB)
