Additive increases the capacity of the Santo Antônio do Jari plant to 300 MW

The National Energy Agency (ANEEL) approved the second amendment to the agreement of the Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) of Santo Antonio do Jari, in Amapá, to promote changes in the technical characteristics of the plant, reset the connection point of the HPP and modify the deployment schedule. The installed capacity goes from 167 megawatts (MW) to 300 MW and new characteristics of reservoir and spillway were specified.

With the guidance of the Energy Research Company (EPE), the reset of the connection point of the energy system was promoted. Instead of connecting to the National Interconnected System (SIN) by Munguba Substation, to pass to Monte Dourado Substation, in Pará, the connection is made ​​via Laranjal do Jari Substation, in Amapá, which composes the transmission system Tucuruí – Macapá – Manaus.

The work schedules wwere also changed with the entry into commercial operation of the first generating unit scheduled for September 30, 2014. The plant took part in Auction no. 004/2010 and will inject energy into the system as from 2015. (FA/GL)
