The board of the National Energy Agency (ANEEL) has decided to transfer authority to explore generating station Termoceará, a right ensured to company MPX Termoceará. With the decision taken in the last board meeting (05/03), Petrobras will act as independent producer of electric power* through the exploration of the plant. The thermal plant with 242 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity is located in the city of Caucaia, in Ceará, and uses natural gas as fuel. (DB/GL)
*Independent electricity producer* is the company or consortium of companies holding concessions, permits or authorization to produce energy that can be fully commercialized, at the own risk of the generator, according to rules of Normative Resolution No.109/2006.
